Difficulties Can Make Us Stronger
Last night Jeff and I were able to attend a house church worship time in Ichinomiya. Eight of us gathered to sing and share and pray. It was a wonderful time of worship, very simple but sincere.
One young believer had traveled for 2 hours to come to this house church. He felt the need to ask for prayers and to share his situation. Recently, he has found a church closer to his home, which is good, but he wanted their prayers to make sure it was right for him. However, the main request was for his new job. He is having to work nights, and his boss is very abusive verbally. He asked for their prayers for that situation, as well. The thing that was encouraging to me was that this young believer said that he was open to what God wanted to teach him through all of these difficulties. If God was wanting him to have more patience or perseverance, he was very willing to allow God to work in his life in that way. He did not complain or threaten to quit his job. He was content to let God work things out for his good, and for God's glory.
We can all learn a lesson from this young man. We must not run from trouble and from difficulties. God can use them to make us stronger, if we are open and listen to Him. If we get a bad attitude, we will miss His will. We will miss the good that could come from it all, so we will only get the pain.
Today, I read Isaiah 12-15.
