The Law of Sowing and Reaping - Esther 6-8 and Acts 6

God can do anything He wants to do, but He is consistent in that He goes by certain laws, which He has established. One of those laws if the law of sowing and reaping. Generally stated, the more seeds that are sown, the more fruit that is harvested. If good seeds are sown, then, there will be good fruit. Farmers see this law all of the time. However, it applies to life, too. God had ordained that when we sow unrighteousness, we will reap unrighteousness. Also, when we sow righteousness, we will reap righteousness. I believe we can all see how this happens most of the time in our lives. Sometimes, God chooses to intervene to work in a little different way, but for the most part He is very consistent.

Haman's life is an example of sowing unrighteousness. He was envious of Mordecai, and he tried to sow the seeds of destruction for him and for all of the Jews. Instead of his plan working, Haman received himself what he had sowed for others. Sometimes, we say, "What goes around, comes around." The book of Proverbs speaks of falling into a trap that you set for others. Either way, it is the law of sowing and reaping. God has promised that we will reap what we have sown.

In Acts 6 there is the sowing of righteousness. The apostles solved the problem with the widows by applying righteous wisdom to the situation, and God so blessed that not only did the widows get satisfaction, there was a great number of priests who were saved. Then, in Stephen's life, he was sowing righteousness. He was doing God's will and speaking the truth boldly. The result was that his face looked like the face of an angel. That was the result of his righteous life. He reaped a great peace that even showed on his face. Now, some of you know that Stephen was eventually martyred for his faith, and you may doubt that he reaped righteousness. Please, remember that God has eternity to make things right. God can settle up accounts with the unrighteousness and the righteous in the next life, if He pleases. However, God is always fair, and He will make sure we reap what we have sown.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Esther 9-10 and Acts 7:1-21.
