Fighting Against God - Esther 3-5 and Acts 5:22-42

There is no future in fighting against God. He is All-Powerful and All- Wise, and He has certain purposes and commands that He has ordained. Those things will happen no matter who fights against them, or who tries to ignore them. We must make sure that we are not trying to live contrary to God's design, because we will not succeed.

Haman was promoted by the king of Persia until he was second in command. Because of a personal vendetta against Mordecai, he convinced the king to allow the Jews to be destroyed. He thought he would succeed in his desire, because of his power and influence. The only problem was that God had chosen the Jews, and God will not allow anyone to destroy the Jews. Many have tried since then, and they have failed, too. The Jews are not all saved, but they are a part of God's plan to the very end of the world, so no one will be able to destroy them. God had placed Esther in the right position to protect His people. He was working His plan behind the scenes. He would not fail.

In Acts 5 we read about the counsel of Gamaliel's about the new movement of Christians. He told the Jewish leaders to leave them alone. If their movement was of man, it would fail, but if it was of God, it would succeed. He told them not to fight against God, because that was futile. We all need to heed Gamaliel's counsel. Are you fighting against God's plans and purposes? If there is anything you are trying to do that is against God's will, it will not succeed. No matter how much pride you have or how hard you work, you can't overturn the purposes of God. Many people are miserable today, because of this. They may not realize why their lives are not successful, but the reason is that they are fighting against God. I urge you to stop and consider what you are doing and why. Allow God to show you His plans and purposes through His Word. If anything in your life is against what He shows you, repent and do it His way. That is the only way to victory. Believe me, you don't want to have to be defeated by God to find out your mistakes.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Esther 6-8 and Acts 6.
