God Knows All My Days

Now that I am getting older I do think about how much longer I will live. I wonder what kinds of diseases or injuries I will have that will affect my life. I was talking with a man today, and he was telling me about 2 of his relatives who lived more than 90 years. My Dad lived almost 92 years, and both of my grandmothers lived a long time, too. So, how will it be with me? I don't know, but God does.

David made that point perfectly clear, as he was inspired by God. (Psalm 139:16) He told us that God saw him before he was born. God showed him that every day of his life was recorded in God's book. In fact, every moment of his life was laid out before a single day had passed. See what I mean? God knew how many days I would have for my life before I was even conceived. Since He has perfect foreknowledge, He knows everything in advance, so He has laid out every moment that I have left.

The truths of this verse should relieve all of us of any stress we might have over the length of our life or over the things that will happen to us. As believers, we are held in God's hands. He has laid out the things that He wants us to do with our life. All we have to do is to trust Him to show us those things each day and obey Him fully. No matter if we have one more day or many years, we are to be busy serving Him in any way He has laid out for us.

Then, in the end we will all face the Judgment. We will have to give an account of all of our days. We will have to answer to God for why we did what He wanted us to do or why we didn't. It will not be about length of life. My little sister who died at 24 may do better at the Judgement time than me, even if I live to 100. The main thing is to live each day for the glory of the Lord, so everyone can see Jesus in us. That is my prayer for myself and for all of us.
