Showers of Blessing
I love to sing songs to the Lord. I love all kinds of songs, old and new alike, if they enable me to praise the Lord and glory in His goodness. One of the older hymns was called "Showers of Blessings." The chorus was something like, "Showers of blessing, showers of blessings we need. Mercy drops round us are falling, but for the showers we plead." I believe we all need acknowledge the Lord's goodness and to plead for His showers of blessings on us and our land.
That is just what God promised to do for the land of Judah when He brought them back from their captivity. He would make a covenant with them, since they would turn back to Him, and He would bless them. (Ezekiel 34:26) God promised to make the places all around His hill a blessing, and to cause showers of blessing to come down in their season. He promised His people showers of blessing. God is a God of blessing, and I am so thankful for that truth.
Just think back over your life for a few moments. Consider all of the blessings God has showered on you. I know there have been difficult times, too, but even when things were going wrong, God fulfilled His covenant with you, if you knew Jesus as your Lord and Savior. He saw you through the troubles, and all of the way, His showers of blessings were coming down on you. What a wonderful Father we have!
Now, we need to pray for our country and for our families that God will again be able to shower us with His blessings. Of course, for that to happen, we need to return to Him as the people of Judah did. We need a revival, a coming to God, His Word, and the Lord Jesus. We can only see that as we, His people, pray and seek His face. Then, we must obey Him and do His will for us and those around us. It is a time of drought, but we can see His showers of blessings if we will truly trust the Lord in all we do.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 36-38.
