Being Respected by God
I know we all have people whom we respect. We look up to them because of their wisdom or their integrity. When they are around or they are mentioned by other people, we listen closely to what is being said by them and about them. It is also wonderful to be respected by other people in those ways. However, the greatest thing is to be respected by God. What a blessing!
Jehoshaphat, king of Judah joined with the kings of Israel and Edom to fight against the army of Moab and their king. They asked the prophet Elijah to tell them God's will for going to battle. (II Kings 3:14) Elijah told them as the Lord of hosts lives, whom he stood before, if God did not regard the presence of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, He would not even look at nor see the other two kings. That is how much God respected Jehoshaphat. How much does He respect us?.
God knows our hearts. He can see if we have genuine love for Him, or if we are just acting out of a feeling of religious duty. God knows our minds. He sees the wisdom we have and whether we live by it or not. God see our service for Him and others, too. When God sees that we are living and loving like Jesus He has regard or respect for us.
When God has respect for us, He wants to be around us. He wants to give us extra grace to protect us and extra wisdom for us to share with others. When He respects us as His servants, God empowers us by HIs Spirit to serve Him more and more. Also, when God respects us, He leads other people to see His respect, so they will respect us, too. It is a wonderful blessing to be respected by the Lord of all.
