The Day of the Lord

I am sure we have all noticed that some days can be very good days for some people and very bad for other people. Just take the final day of a war. It is a joyful day for the victors, while being a day of mourning for the defeated. It all depends on which side we are on. The same is true for the coming day of the Lord.

God showed Ezekiel a message for Egypt about that day. (Ezekiel 30:2,3) He told Ezekiel to prophecy and give this message from the Sovereign Lord: "Weep and wail for that day, for the terrible day is almost here - the day of the Lord. It is a day of clouds and gloom, a day of despair for the nations." We need to see both sides.

For us who know the Lord Jesus, we long for the day of the Lord to come. We want to see Jesus. We want to worship at the throne of God and experience the Marriage Feast of the Lamb. Yes, we will have to stand in the Judgment time, and we may be ashamed of some things we have done, but we know we are headed for eternity in heaven.

Let's not allow that desire to make us forget how terrible the day of the Lord will be for those who don't trust Jesus as Lord and Savior. It will be a day of weeping and wailing. It will be a day of clouds and gloom, a day of despair for all the multitudes of people who do not know Him. Let's show them Jesus, so they will be with Him on that day.
