Turn Us Again To Yourself

Sometimes, we , as believers, find ourselves turning away from God, instead of walking in His will. It doesn't make sense that we would say that Jesus is our Lord and then go off away from Him, the One who humbled Himself to become a man and die on the cross for our sins. However, it happens, and it is a serious situation.

The psalmist recognized this problem in the people of Israel. (Psalm 80:3) Three times in this psalm he asked God to turn them again to Himself. He longed for God to make His face shine down upon them, because that was the only way they were going to be saved from their enemies and the troubles they had.

If we find ourselves going the opposite direction from our Lord right now, we need to cry out to God. We need to ask for God to give us a shove or a kick in the pants to wake us up. We need God's power to motivate us in the right direction. Then, we can get going with Him, not against Him.

When that happens, God will shine His face on us. He will be pleased with us. God will be happy to defeat our enemies. He will be glad to deliver us from the troubles we brought upon ourselves in our rebellion against Him. The psalmist was right when he said that is the only way we will be saved from those things. Let's pray and turn back to the Lord today.
