Do Not Be Afraid

There are so many people who are paralyzed and defeated by fears of all kinds. As Christians, we must not allow fear to keep us from overcoming our enemies and living the abundant Christian life. So we need to stop being afraid, and understand why God's Word says that we should never be afraid.

Moses explained that before any battle the priest would come to addresses the army. (Deuteronomy 20:3-4) He would tell the men not to be afraid as you go out to fight your enemies. Do not lose heart, panic, or tremble before your enemies, because the Lord your God is going with you, and He will fight for you against your enemies and give you victory. This is true for us today, too.

Our enemies are the world, the flesh, and the devil. None of them are able to defeat the power of God. However, we do have to fight like the Israelites did. We have to decide to draw near to God and resist these enemies. Then, God will give us the victory by His power. Some people are defeated by not fighting at all.

Of course, we must also realize that we do not fight against "flesh and blood." (Ephesians 6:12) People are not our enemies. They are people God loves. They may be under Satan's control, or they may be following their flesh or the world, so that they give us trouble. But out enemy is Satan, and we can defeat Him every time, as we wage spiritual warfare by prayer and the Word.
