Always Praying for God's Will

I wonder how faithful we are in our praying? The Bible makes it clear that God wants us to be talking with Him in prayer all of the time. We are to be praying without ceasing, but is that what we are doing? I am afraid many Christians have an inconsistent prayer life, and that is partly why their prayers are not as effective as they should be. There are some keys to praying, and Paul knew those keys. (Romans 1:9-10) Paul was busy serving God in his spirit by telling others the good news about Jesus. In the process he was constantly mentioning the Christians in Rome, because he was always asking in his prayers that if it was somehow God's will that he succeed in going to see them. As we know God answered that prayer. Let's see if we can discern why.

We need to be faithfully serving the Lord in our spirit all of the time. When God sees our heart of faith, He is much more inclined to hear our prayers and answer our prayers. However, we can't be too busy with ministry activities to pray. We must be constantly praying every day, even as Paul tells us he was doing here and in his other letters. The key here is to have a prayer list and to make the commitment to God to pray over that list every day. We can pray for some things every day, and other things one day a week or so, but we need to be constantly asking God. Then, when we ask, we ask for His will to be done, not our will. This is a huge key. God's will is always best, and His timing is always the right timing. Therefore, if we are to get Him to answer, we must let Him answer His way and be obedient to what He wants us to do.
