What Kind of Man is This?

It was evident to the disciples that Jesus was a man. They touched His body, and it was like theirs. He got hungry and thirsty like they did. Jesus even became tired after long days of ministry. Jesus could be serious or very jovial. He loved being with other people, and He could relate to all of them. However, He was different in that He spoke with authority other men did not have. He cast out demons and healed others with a word or a touch. It was not those things that made the disciples wonder about Jesus's humanity. (Matthew 8:27) It was when they saw Jesus speak to the winds and the waves immediately bringing on a great calm. Then, they asked themselves,  "What kind of man is this?"How would you answer that question? Your eternity rests on your answer.

Jesus was not just a good teacher or a prophet.  That would explain His teaching and miracles of casting out demons and healing people. Jesus boldly proclaimed He was God. The Jewish leaders knew this and so did the people. If He wasn't God, He was a liar or a lunatic, but He couldn't be a good teacher.  The only proper answer is that Jesus was a unique kind of man. He was begotten by the power of the Spirit so that the virgin Mary conceived the Son of God. He was all God and all man, except He did not have the sin nature or any sin. That is why He was the only One who could shed His sinless blood as payment for our sins.  He alone could die in our place.  No mere man could do that. Therefore, if we do not believe that about Jesus,  we can't trust Him as our Lord and Savior and be saved from our sins. The disciples, except for Judas, finally came to see him this way, and they were saved. We must do the same.
