Turning Back to the Lord

It is easy to stray away from the Lord. This is especially true in our day, as we have so many things to attract our attention from Him. Also, during this time of Covid-19, many have drifted from the Lord because of being isolated from other people and not attending Bible studies and worship services. It is time that we turned back to the Lord. It is never too early to turn back, but it can become too late. This is what Jeremiah encouraged the people of Jerusalem to do, as he lamented over the destruction of the holy city. (Lamentations 3:40,41) He exhorted them to examine and probe their ways and turn back to the Lord. He told them to lift up their hearts and their hands to God in heaven. I believe this is a great prescription for believers right now, too.

When we examine and probe something, we stop to take a very close look at it. We do not just glance at it, but we seriously analyze it, and we even probe it with questions. How are we doing in the ways we are living our lives? How are we doing in our everyday walk with the Lord? Are we growing in it, or are we falling away from being close to Him? Look closely! Take some time. Don't just ask yourself. Ask others to tell you. Ask the Lord to show you. Then, once you have a clear picture of the condition of your relationship with God, turn back to God with all of your heart, soul, and strength. Lift up your heart and hands to the God of heaven, and show Him your clean heart and hands, because you have confessed your sins and shortcomings. Worship Him sincerely since you have returned to Him and now there is joy in your heart. Let's do it. Let's return to the Lord today!
