Standing in the Gap

Israel and Judah were very unfaithful to the Lord, and God sent enemies against them to destroy their cities and take the people into exile in far away countries. God did not want to do this. He warned them through His prophets. He gave them time to repent of their sins, but they did not. Then, in a last ditch effort to save the land God looked for one man who would stand up before Him for the land. (Ezekiel 22:30) He tried to find a man who would repair the wall that had been broken down and stand in the gap of the wall before the Lord pleading on behalf of the land, so He would not destroy it. However, God could not find even one man willing to do this. That was the downfall of Israel, when not even one person would pray in faith and stand up for what was right before the Lord and intercede for the land to the Lord. I wonder if God is looking for someone in America today?

Our country is declining rapidly, morally, financially, and spiritually. Our leaders do not have the convictions to stand up for absolute truth, so they allow and promote any form of morality that anyone thinks is right. This is leading us down a road where no one knows the reality of right and wrong. It is getting to the point where anyone can do whatever he or she wants to do, and it considered right. Financially, we are totally irresponsible with spending our money as a country. The debt is so high, it would take a miracle to pay it down. No one even seems to be trying to do that. Spiritually, people who are called Christians are giving in to the false beliefs around them, so they are abandoning the truths of the Bible. I don't believe our country can last much longer with this rate of decline. I believe we are in much the same state as Israel, and we need to rebuild the wall by standing for what is right, and we need to pray earnestly to God on behalf of our land. Perhaps, God will have mercy on us, answer our prayers, and send a great revival and awakening on our land. Will you join me in praying this way, as we stand in the gap before God?
