Wait for the Lord

Most people have a hard time with waiting. It is hard to wait on other people. It is hard to wait for certain situations to come about. It is also very hard to wait on the Lord. This is true, even for us as believers. Our flesh just doesn't want to be patient and wait. It is only when we find help from the Lord that we can wait on Him as we should. David knew this very well. He had to wait years to take the throne of Israel, as Saul was pursuing him to kill him. (Psalm 27:13,14) One thing that really helped David was that he was certain that he would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living, before he went to heaven. Therefore, he could wait for the Lord. Yes, he knew we have to be strong and our hearts must be courageous to do this, but we can wait on the Lord with His help.

I wonder if we really have confidence in the Lord? I wonder if we really believe He is working all things together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose? If we are certain about the Lord in those things, it should make it much easier to wait, knowing His timing is best for us and what He is going to do is better than we could ever devise. Also, remember that patience is a fruit of the Spirit. When we walk in the Spirit, He will give us God's power to have patience. This is supernatural patience, not just human ability to wait. That is what we all need all of the time. That is why God supplies it in this way. I pray that we will all trust the Lord, walk in the Spirit, and wait on the Lord. Then, let's see the goodness of the Lord in our lives as God desires us to experience it.
