Our Strategic Position
As believers, we can be sure that God has us in the position we are in for a purpose, if we have been following Him, and we are in His will for our lives. There is none of us who are unimportant to the Lord and His work. He has a special role for us to play, so we must listen to the Spirit and obey the Lord immediately when God shows us what to do. His timing and His way are the best way to get His will done. However, if we fail to obey the Lord on time and completely, He will see that His will is done in another way. But, we will miss a great blessing, and we may suffer serious consequences for our sin. That is just what happened in the life of Esther, a young Jewish woman, after she became the queen of Persia. There was a plot to kill all of the Jews in the kingdom. She was in a position to speak to her husband the king to head off the plot, but if the king was displeased that she approached him, she could be killed. Esther's uncle, Mordecai urged her to help. (Esther 4:14) He warned her that if she stayed silent, God would send relief and deliverance for the Jews from another place, but she and her family would be destroyed. Then, he reminded her that she might have come to her royal position for just such a time of need as this. I am glad Esther was faithful to intervene, and I pray we will be as courageous and obedient as she was then.
God can use any Christian to do great things. We must not think that we are unworthy or unable to be used by God to accomplish His perfect will. We must not fear what others could do to us. We must trust the plan of God that has brought us to that place in our lives, so we could render a vital service for the kingdom of God. Then, as we act in faith, and God's will is done, He is pleased. He loves for us to go with His plan and do our part, so he blesses us. This is true, even if we get killed in the process. Yes, Esther said, "If I perish, I perish." What better way to die and to go to heaven than to be killed doing God's will, being faithful to the very end of our lives? Most of the time, it will not come to that, but it could result in many people being saved from their sins or people being saved from physical harm, like in Esther's case. Now, after more than 2,000 years, people are still talking about Esther and how the Jews in Persia were delivered through her allowing God to use her. Just think. God could have people talking about us for a long time, if we will just let Him use us and our strategic position for His honor and glory.
