Godly Leadership

Godly leadership is hard to find these days. It seems like people want to be dictators over people. This even appears to be true in churches. That is not God's model for godly leadership. Jesus was a servant leader, and we need to be servant leaders in our homes, our churches and in our communities. A servant leader doesn't ask others to do what he or she is unwilling to do. Instead, they live as examples of what they want others to do. Then, they teach and lead the people to do God's will. (II Chronicles 14:2,4) That is exactly what King Asa did when he ruled over Judah. He did what was good and right in God's sight. Then, he told the people to seek the Lord God of their ancestors and to carry out the instruction and commands. I believe we can all learn from Asa.

We should practice what we preach, and we should practice it before we preach it. This goes for all believers. We should set our hearts on the Lord, so that we do what is good and right in every area of our lives. This is not easy, but it is possible with the help of the Holy Spirit Who indwells us. However, we have to make up our minds and hearts to spend the time and effort to seek the Lord, sit at His feet, and grow in the Lord. Then, and only then, are we able to have the integrity to call on others to seek the Lord. Also, we will know how to help them because we have already been seeking God well. Also, we should call on others to carry out the instruction of God and His commands. Since we are already doing that they can see it is possible, and they will be encouraged to be faithful in their learning and growing, until they become mature believers, too. I pray this will be the way we all follow the Lord and help others, as well.
