The Lord is Peace

I wonder how much peace we have in our lives? I am afraid that most people are living in turmoil, not in peace. That is not God's will for anyone. God has a way for all of us to live in peace all of the time. It is His will, because He is Peace. (Judges 6:23, 24) Gideon learned this truth when God came to him and called on him to lead His people into battle against the very powerful Midianites.  Gideon felt inadequate to lead the army. However, God showed Himself to Gideon, and He told him, "Peace to you. Don't be afraid, for you will not die." When Gideon heard that from the Lord, he built an altar and called it, "The Lord is peace." I don't think we need to build an altar like Gideon did, but we all need to realize the Lord is peace, and experience His peace every day.

God wants all of us to know Jesus, the Prince of Peace. We come to know the Lord  Jesus by turning from our sins, by trusting Him as the One who died and rose again to forgive our sins, and by surrendering to Him as our personal Lord and Savior. When we do that, the Holy Spirit comes to live in us. God is in us, so peace is in us. The Spirit produces His fruit in our life as we walk with Him daily. Part of His fruit is peace. (Galatians 5:22,23) Therefore, God has made a way for every one of us to have His peace all of the time. God's peace is not the absence of conflict. It is the presence of God, who is peace. Therefore, whatever happens, as long as we walk in the Spirit and bear His fruit, we will have peace. Also, Jesus told us, if we believe in Him, we would not die either. Yes, our body will cease functioning, but we will go straight into God's presence and experience the full peace of the Lord in heaven.
