Going Out, for the Sake of the Name

God puts it on the hearts of men and women all over the world to go out for the sake of the Name. This has been happening since Jesus rose from the dead, because everyone in the world needs to know the Name, the Name above all names. They need to know that Jesus is Lord of all, and He wants to be their personal Lord and Savior, so they can have forgiveness of sins and eternal life. These people have gone out at their own personal expense. They have gone to people not asking them for anything, except to allow them to share the Name with them. (III John 7,8) These people deserve our support, as John told the believers of his day. We need to give of what God has given to us, so they can be fellow workers with the truth. We go here, and they go there, but we are all one in Christ to further His Name.

We call these people missionaries today. They are sent out like missiles with a message to tell others about Jesus. They leave family and friends. They move to a new culture and often, they learn a new language. They raise their children in this new culture, all the while showing them why their mission is so important. All over the globe we see people come to know Jesus, because of the sacrifices of these who go out for the sake of the Name. I want to urge all of us to pray for our missionaries every day, and especially at this time to year. Yes, they are away from home for the holidays. God will meet their needs, though, if we will pray and give generously. In our church family, and in the SBC, we receive the Lottie Moon Offering for International Missions this time of year. Please, be a partner with these fellow workers with the truth. Let's support them in a way that is worthy of the Lord, just like the believers did in John's day. Let's pray for an awakening and see what God does.
