Seeking Jesus

Jesus loved to spar verbally with the Jewish leaders. He knew they did not believe He was the Messiah, and He tried to show Himself to them, but they would not listen. Often, Jesus would say things to make them think, so perhaps, they would start seeking Him and put their trust in Him. That did not happen very often though. On one occasion Jesus explained what was going to happen soon. He did it in a way that would hopefully get the Jewish leaders thinking and seeking. (John 7:33,34) He explained that He would be with them "a little longer." Then, He would go to Him who sent Him. At that point, they would seek Jesus and not find Him. Also, He told them where He was going they could not come. I think this statement should be of interest to all of us.

Jesus made this statement not long before He was crucified. Of course, 3 days after His death and burial, Jesus arose from the dead. Then, He taught His disciples for 40 days before ascending back to heaven. Isn't that amazing? He told the ones who were against Him exactly what was going to happen. They saw it, and they still did not turn to Jesus as their Messiah. Also, He told them they would seek Him. Yes, they wanted to prove He had not risen from the dead, but they couldn't do that. He appeared to His disciples and many others, including a group of over 500 people. His resurrection was proven. Then, Jesus ascended back to the Father, just like He said, but they were not able to go there. Why? They were not believing Him in, and only those who trust the Lord Jesus go to heaven. Also, He could go because He died and arose with His eternal body. No one can go to heaven with an earthly body, only believers who are absent from the body can then be present with the Lord. He will give us a body like Jesus had so we can live forever with Him in heaven. I pray we would all believe and not be like the Jewish leaders who rejected Jesus and will never see heaven.
