A Revival of Fatherhood

God is good to know just what we need and just the right time to send it. That is why we need to cry out to Him in faith, asking Him to show us our need and to meet it. When God sent Jesus into the world, He was the One to meet our greatest need, the need of salvation from sins. Before Jesus, God sent John, the Baptist, to prepare the way for Jesus by preaching repentance to get the hearts of the people right. Then, they would hear Jesus better. Jesus was asked about the passage that said Elijah would come before the Messiah, and He affirmed that John was the fulfillment of that prophecy. The prophet Malachi also mentions Elijah coming. (Malachi 4:6) He told us he would come before the great and dreadful Day of the Lord. When he comes at that time, he will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers, so that God will not come and smite the land with a curse. There is a powerful message in that prophecy.

It seems like the great and dreadful Day of the Lord could be drawing near today. To prepare for this people need to turn to the Lord Jesus. However, the hearts of most people are very hard toward God right now. Therefore, God will send someone like John, the Baptist, to wake people up to spiritual needs. I do not think there is anything that could do that more than a revival of fatherhood. Yes, many fathers have dropped the ball on being good fathers and loving their children. The children do not have a strong, loving Father figure to look up to. Since God is our Father, they are totally without a concept of a good father. However, if that would be restored, the hearts of the fathers and their children would be prepared to turn to the Lord. I pray that will happen in my lifetime. A revival of fatherhood would be such a blessing for us in so many ways. Lord, please send it now.
