Deliverance by Man is in Vain

People have always had adversaries for one reason or another. Mainly, others want to advance in life and wealth by putting us down others and taking away our possessions. However, we have adversaries at work, too. These are people who slander us and spread gossip to get rid of us, so they can look better and get a promotion or raise in salary. We will always have these kinds of problems, so we need to learn the best way to deal with them. David had learned a valuable lesson from his experiences of being attacked. (Psalm 108:12,13) He found out that deliverance by man is in vain. He came to realize he had to call upon the Lord, and through the Lord he would do valiantly and see the Lord tread down his adversaries. Even though our adversaries are different from his, this principle is still true.

First of all, we must remember that we really have one adversary and that is Satan. Flesh and blood people are not the actual problem, it is how he is working in their lives that cause them to act in the way they do. Therefore, our fight is with the devil, and we must put on God's armor to prevail against him. (Ephesians 6:10-18). When we do that faithfully every day and keep it on all day, Satan can't harm us. Of course, Satan still stirs up people as our adversaries and other things, too. We have to cry out to God for His wisdom and direction by the Holy Spirit to know what to do and what to say in these situations. If we will do that, God will always show us what to do, and He will tread down those adversaries, too. This doesn't mean that nothing bad will ever happen to us, but it does mean that God will keep us from real harm, and He will work all things out for our good as we trust in Him.
