First Inquire of God

How often do we have a problem, and we forget to ask God what to do? That is a common problem for me, even though I am getting better about it. It is easy to rush ahead and do whatever seems right at the moment. At other times, we ask people what to do, but we do not ask God. These days we might even Google it first. None of those options is the right option. We should always go to the Lord first and get a word from Him. (II Chronicles 18:3-4) King Jehoshaphat of Judah knew that much when Ahab, the king of Israel, asked him to go to battle with him against Ramoth-gilead.  We all need to make this a priority in our lives every day.

God is All-wise and All-loving. He sees everything at once, since He is outside of time and space. He sees the beginning and the end with everything in between all at one time. That way, He always makes the right decisions. It only makes sense to go to Him, especially since He promised to answer us, when we pray in faith to find His will. In fact, He commands us to ask for wisdom, and He promises to give it in abundance when we ask. (James 1:5-8) No matter what it takes, we must condition ourselves to ask Him first and to do what He says, unlike what Jehoshaphat did in the end of the story. He almost got himself killed. We could do ourselves great harm by not going to God first, too.
