The Most Humble Man on Earth

I wonder who the most humble man on earth is now? The Lord knows, but it would be very hard for us to find out. It is not the kind of thing we can have a contest to decide. A humble person never promotes himself or herself. The truly humble person gives all of the credit to God for all that is accomplished. Moses was the most humble man on earth in his day. (Numbers 12:3) Just think of that. He was the one who led Israel out of bondage by confronting Pharaoh with 10 plagues sent by God. He led 2 million people, which is no small task either. He was very capable in many areas, but he realized he was nothing without the Lord. That is great humility, but Moses was not the most humble person of all time.

The Bible is clear about who was the most humble person ever. Again, it was not someone we would think about being very humble. This person could heal diseases, cast out demons, resist the temptations of Satan himself. He was the greatest preacher ever. He loved everyone, and His wisdom astounded all who heard Him. Of course, I am speaking of Jesus. (Philippians 2:5-11) He left all of the pleasures of heaven to be born in a manger. He allowed Himself to be ridiculed and tortured without responding. He died for all of the sinners of the world, even though He had never sinned Himself. Yet, He was totally submissive to His Father in heaven, and He always depended on the direction of His Father and the power of the Holy Spirit to do anything. He did not boast about His achievements, because He knew He was totally dependent on the Father, since He was 100% human plus 100% divine. He accomplished our salvation by dying and rising again to pay our sin debt. He deserves all credit for our salvation. If we do not see the humility of Jesus, we miss a huge part of His character. What we all need to do is to seek to be as humble as possible, so we can be like Jesus and accomplish much in God's kingdom.
