Instructions on How to Pray
As believers, we know that prayer is very important. Sometimes the problem is that we do not know specifically how to pray. Yes, Jesus gave His disciples a guide in what we call the Lord's Prayer, but He was just showing them the categories in prayer. That was not a guide to all that we should pray. Paul gave us instructions after he explained the full armor of God. (Ephesians 6:18) I believe we need to heed these instructions, if we desire to please God in how we pray.
We are to pray "at all times." Of course, in another place Paul admonishes us to "pray without ceasing." Prayer is like breathing. We should be talking to the Father in the name of Jesus all of the time. When we are praying, we should be "in the Spirit." We should be allowing the Spirit to fill us and guide us in what we say. He will actually take what we pray and intercede to the Father for us when we don't know just what to say. We should be praying with every type of prayer and request. We should include praise, thanksgiving, confession, intercession for others, and requests for our own needs. The attitude of our prayers should be alertness and perseverance. We should not stop praying until we receive God's answer, and we need to watch to see what He is doing around us in the process. Finally, we should pray for all the saints. We should have a personal prayer list for our requests, and we should keep a prayer list of the needs of our family members and other believers, so we can be sure to pray for "all" of them. Now, that sounds pretty specific, and it is pretty complete, especially, if we are remembering to pray for our missionaries and for the lost around us, too. I hope that we all will be prayer warriors, dressed in God's armor, and praying like this. We will see God do great things, if we will.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Philippians 1-3.
