Revive Your Work, Lord

Habakkuk's ministry came at a low point in the history of God's people. Their enemies were taking over their land, and the people had been unfaithful to God, which brought on all of the devastation. Habakkuk knew that prayer was the answer to their dilemma. That is why his book consists of three prayers. His final prayer was a prayer of praise for our God and a plea for Him to revive "His work' at that time. (Habakkuk 3:2) I believe this ought to be the prayer of God's people today, since we live in a very similar time, and we need for God to revive His work today.

I recently hung some posters around our church building, because we will have a special "Who's Your One? Day on October 27. The poster has a picture of our speaker for that morning, and the words, "It's time for Revival."  I am sure that when some people see the word revival they think of a week of special services. That is not revival at all. Revival is when God's people come alive again. It is when the Awesome God does a great work in His people, so that His work is built up and showing the world His glory. That is what Habakkuk prayed for, and that is what God's people should be praying for today. We need to pray that if He is angry about our sins, He will remember His mercy and give us a chance to confess our sins and be fully faithful to Him. If we all did that I know God would respond by reviving His work. I pray that you will join me in praying this prayer for us, our families, our churches, our nation, and our world. Please, Lord, revive Your work in these years.
