Responding to God Well
Our responses to God determine the course of our life. If we fail to respond to His revelation of Himself and His will, we will have a very difficult life. If we are sensitive to God and we respond to Him well, our life will stay on the right track. Israel failed to respond well to God. They followed other gods, and their hearts became hard. They sinned greatly, and God punished them. However, God kept pursuing Israel, until He finally restored them. The key was that they began to respond to God the way they did when He brought them out of Egypt. (Hosea 2:15) We all must be careful to keep our hearts soft and respond to God quickly and well.
God is speaking to us through His Word and directly all of the time. It is up to us to listen and to obey. That is the essence of faith. We are faithful when we respond by trusting what God says to us. Any other response is a sin. Therefore, we must focus on the Lord, keeping our spiritual ears open. Then, when we read something in the Bible or we hear something the Spirit says to us, we simply follow God's instructions without reservation. God loves to see His children respond sincerely, and He will bless us any time we respond well. If we ignore God and go our own way, He has no choice but to punish us to get our attention. Let's not make God do that. Let's be ready to respond well to God at any moment.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Hosea 3-5.
