When God Sees the Blood

The final plague on Egypt was the death of every firstborn in every family in Egypt. God passed through the land at midnight and killed every firstborn, except He passed over the homes where the blood of a lamb was applied to the doorposts and the lintel of the door. That is why the Jews call the feast to commemorate this the Passover Feast. God would pass over the people in that house when He saw the blood of the innocent lamb that was slain for that household. (Exodus 12:13) The plague would not touch them, at all. Now, we have a similar situation in the New Covenant for all of us.

The plague now for all people is sin. Sin brings death. Therefore, God sent Jesus, the Lamb of God, to shed His blood and die for us, so we could apply that blood to our heart. Then, He will pass over us, and the plague of sin and death will not destroy us. The way the blood is applied is when we turn from our sins and put our trust in Christ as our Lord and Savior, because He is the Lord who died for us and rose again. Then, the blood is applied to us, and when God looks at us, He does not see our sins, but He sees the blood of His Son. I pray that each of us have had the blood of the Lamb applied to our hearts once and for all, so we have life everlasting and abundant.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Exodus 13-16.
