Remembering Others Before the Lord

God had a very specific way for Aaron and his sons to be dressed as the priests of Israel. It was ornate and meaningful at the same time. One feature was the Breastplate of Judgment. It was beautiful, as it was covered with 12 precious stones, each having the name of one of the sons of Israel engraved on it. That was God's design, so that when Aaron and his sons went into the Holy Place, they would bring the 12 tribes to regular remembrance before the Lord. (Exodus 28:29) I believe this has a very good application for us today.

Now every believer is a priest before the Lord, and we are to enter His presence on a daily basis. When we do, we worship Him in various ways like reading His Word, praying for our needs, and interceding for others. It is when we intercede for others that we bring them to remembrance before the Lord, as we ask for Him to invade their lives in some way for their good. It could be for their salvation or their healing or for the Lord to provide for them. I believe we should especially bring our family members before the Lord each day, and intercede for their specific needs. In this way we are following God's design for us as His priests today.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Exodus 29-31.
