Jesus is the Christ
Every one of us must decide for ourselves who Jesus is. Some people say He was a good teacher. Others say He was a prophet. However, neither of those could be true. Since He claimed to be God, if He was not God, He was deceiving people and not speaking the truth, so He could not be a good teacher or a prophet. The only reasonable explanation of His life and death on this earth is that Jesus is the Christ. The "Anointed One" sent from the Father to die for our sins, so that we may have life by believing in His name. (John 20:31) John gave His account of Jesus' life in the Gospel of John to show just that beyond a doubt.
John was inspired by the Spirit to write about several "signs" which Jesus performed in His life on earth to prove that He was the Christ. That is why John's gospel is not a chronological account of Jesus' life, like the other 3 gospels. His purpose had one focus, to show everyone that Jesus came from God; He is God. He became a man while keeping His divine nature. That way He could pay the penalty for all sin, since He was God, and not just a man. He died for us that we "may" have life by "believing in His name." Jesus did His part in salvation perfectly. John has revealed it to us in a way that we all can see that, so now it is up to us to decide if we believe Jesus is the Christ, and we will believe in who is He and what He did to forgive our sins. If we will do that, we will have life eternal. I pray that all of us have taken that step of faith and been saved from our sins as a free gift of His grace.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Acts 1-3.
