Saved to the Uttermost

Once we know Christ as our Lord and Savior, we can be assured of our salvation from sins and eternal life, because He has an unchangeable priesthood for ever in heaven, always making intercession for His own. (Hebrews 7:24,25) It is simply amazing how God's plan of salvation is so perfect and meets our needs so completely.

Jesus was declared to be a priest by God, the Father. He was not from the tribe of Levi, so He was not a priest like the Old Covenant priests of Israel. He is a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. He was introduced as Melchizedek, when Abram was returning from battle. Because he won a great victory he paid tithes to Melchizedek, and he was blessed by the pre-incarnate Jesus. However, that was not the only act of Jesus as a priest. He offered His precious blood for us, once for all, so we could have our sins forgiven forever. Then, He sat down at the right hand of the Father, where He ever lives to make intercession for us. Therefore, if we ever need anything after we are saved, we can go to Him, and He will intercede to the Father for us. That is why we can be secure in our salvation, when we know Christ, and we have a personal relationship with Him. Read the full account in Hebrews 7, and I believe you will come to rejoice in this truth that He is able to save us to the uttermost.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Hebrews 9-11.
