Turned into Another Man
I have always been intrigued by the description of what would happen to King Saul after the Spirit of the Lord came upon him. (I Samuel 10:6) He would prophesy and be turned into another man. That is such an wonderful way to say what happens at salvation. Let me explain.
When a person comes to know the Lord, the old person they were dies. (Galatians 2:20) Then, that person becomes a new creation. (II Corinthians 5:17) We become new people. The father of the prodigal son exclaimed when his son came home, "... for this son of mine was dead and has come to life again." (Luke 15:24 NASB ) We are raised up to walk in the newness of life with Christ. (Romans 6:4) See what I mean. Now, we are created in Christ Jesus to do good works. (Ephesians 2:10) Our new person is to be conformed to the image of Christ. (Romans 8:29)
Therefore, if you thought that Christianity was just another philosophy, this shows that to be completely false. Christianity is a relationship with Jesus in which we are totally changed by the power of the Spirit. If you have never been changed, you have not come to know the Lord, because when you come to Him in repentance and faith, He will turn you into another man or woman.
