The Greatest Miracle

Some people are enthralled when they see the Lord heal someone. It causes them to rejoice mightily. Others are even more thrilled when they hear a report of a demon being cast out of a person. Yes, those are great miracles, and we should rejoice over God's power in those cases. However, the greatest miracle is the salvation of a soul, and we should be careful to always rejoice even more in that greatest of all miracles than any other types of miracles. (Luke 10:20) That is what Jesus told the 70 when they returned from their tour of preaching and healing, so we need to hear this admonition, too.

I am afraid that people take salvation from sins for granted. It could be because many people who claim to be saved are not saved at all. It could be that many believers are so far away from the Lord that their salvation is not making a great impact on their lives right now. However, the fact remains that God's great transformation of a person from a sinner to a saint is truly the most amazing accomplishment of God. God makes us new creations in Christ. He gives us Holy Spirit to indwell us and guide us, as well as empower us. We are adopted into the family of God, so that we are joint heirs with Christ. We have an eternal life that begins immediately, and it is truly an abundant life, as we walk with Jesus daily. Nothing could be better than that miracle. A person who is healed will lose their health and die, at some point, unless Jesus returns. A person who has a demon cast out of them could become overpowered by another demon, but a person who is saved by the power of God can never lose their salvation. That is why it should cause us more rejoicing than anything else. Therefore, we must be careful to keep our priorities straight when it comes to rejoicing in God's power.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Luke 12-14.
