Is Jesus Lord of Your Life?

Jesus is Lord. There is no doubt about that. What is at question is this: "Is Jesus Lord of your life personally?" There are many ways to confirm this fact, but one is very basic. If we confess Jesus as Lord before other people, He is Lord of our lives to some degree, but if we deny Him before others by being silent or by acting like He is not the Lord, then, Jesus is not Lord of our lives at all.(Luke 12:8,9) Let me explain.

The word Lord means "master, sovereign, or boss." If we are ashamed to mention Jesus, He is not prominent in our lives. He is definitely not in control of our lives. Also, it is very doubtful that we love Him, if we fail to mention Him to others. See what I mean?

We can't simply believe in Jesus somehow in our "hearts" without expressing that belief in our words and actions. We are His disciples, if we know Him as Lord of our lives. We won't be ashamed of our Lord and not mention what He has done for us and what we have learned from Him. He has commanded us to be His "witnesses" so that we make disciples as we go through our lives. We can't do that by denying Him.  Being Lord means that He is the center of our lives in every way.(Luke 14:26,27)

This truth is why it is so confusing that only about 5% of professed believers ever share the gospel of Jesus Christ with another person. I am talking about even one time in their lives. How can that be? Then, there is the fact that many believers seldom mention Him to their friends or give their story of how He saved them to another person. How can that be? There are only two options, either He is not Lord of our lives, or He is not Lord the way He should be. He is not the one we love with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength. He is not in control of our lives completely. I pray that these verses will cause all believers to search their hearts, because this world needs to hear us all confess Jesus is Lord all of the time and to see that we love Him more than anyone else.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Luke 15-17.
