The Way of Man is Not in Himself
It is easy to see that when people do what they think is right, things get very messed up. We do not have it in ourselves to know what we should do.(Jeremiah 10:23) God has revealed Himself to us, and He shows us the right ways to go, if we will just listen and obey Him. Only when people follow God's directions does life go well.
We all want to be independent. We want to do what we desire. We love to do what feels good. We find it uncomfortable to do what others tell us, or even what God tells us. That is the flesh, the human nature. The flesh is against God. The human nature can't see the things of God. Therefore, if we only go by what our mind, heart, and will tells us to do, we will go in the wrong directions, and life will come crashing down. Many people wait until they hit the bottom to figure this out. However, it doesn't have to be that way. God is speaking to each of us. He gave us His Word, the Bible. The Holy Spirit is in the world to convict all of us of sin, righteousness, and judgment. God is showing us the true way that man should live. We must realize our limited knowledge, and live according to His directions. It is not easy, because of our human nature, but it is possible. We must repent of our ways, trust the Lord Jesus, and allow Him to be Lord of our lives. When He is Lord, we obey His voice, His Word, and the Holy Spirit, who comes to reside in us. Then, we know how God designed for man to live.
If you will think about the history of humanity, you will see this truth. The cultures that have obeyed the Lord are the ones who have reached the highest levels of life on earth. Unfortunately, they have also fallen away from the Lord's ways, because they stopped trusting in God's way. We need to get back to God's way in the USA. We can't legislate this. It has to happen one person at a time.
