A Mind to Work
Work is not bad. Work is good. God works. God creates. God is always working, and He always does a good job. When we do quality, diligent work, we are like God. It is Satan who wants us to be lazy and emphasize leisure to the detriment of work. Satan tears down. He confuses people so they don't work. God has a plan, and He works to achieve His plan. That is what Israel did under Nehemiah's leadership when they rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem.(Nehemiah 4:6) They accomplished a lot very quickly because the people had a mind to work. We need to have a mind to work, too.
We live in a world where people want to get out of work, where people do not take pride in their work, and where they would rather play than work. They do not have a mind to work. They have the opposite attitude from God. If we are ever to get God's work done in the world today, we will have to have a mind to work. We will have to do all we do for the glory of God and do it to the best of our ability in God's power. That is what the Lord is looking for in us. Just think of all that could be accomplished if all of God's people had a mind to work. It would be glorious.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Nehemiah 5-8.
