A Job Well Done

The Tabernacle must have been amazingly beautiful to behold with all of that gold, silver, bronze, and fine fabrics of various colors used to construct it. However, the glory of the Tabernacle was that God had commanded Moses just how to make it when he was with the Lord on the mountain. He came down, and enlisted the skilled workers and all of the people to do the work. When it was finally completed, Moses looked over all of it, and he saw that it was done just as the Lord had commanded.(Exodus 39:43) He blessed the people, giving them praise for a job well done.

What makes for a job well done? Complete obedience is the key. It is not enough to do anything partially as the Lord said to do it. Please remember, incomplete obedience is disobedience! Sometimes, we pat ourselves on the back for doing some of what God told us to do. We want to give ourselves credit for at least doing something right. We must reorient ourselves to be completely obedient to the Lord in all things He has shown us.

I know that no one is perfect, and we can't do everything perfectly well. However, if God tells us to do something, we can do it with His help. He does not tell us to do things that we can't do. It may be difficult. It may take time. We can do it if we set our minds to complete obedience. If we do not shoot for complete obedience, and we lower our standard and expectations for ourselves, what happens when we fall short then? We are even farther from God's will, aren't we? That is why we must remember that a job well done is one that is done in complete obedience to what God has told us to do, no matter what it is we are doing.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Exodus 40 and Leviticus 1-2.
