The Ultimate Motivation For Living
Many people start on diets tomorrow. Others go out and join a fitness center or buy fitness equipment. Then, in a few months they are back to eating as usual, and there is no exercise being done.
Some people have looked at the bills from Christmas. They have already decided to live by a budget in 2011, and they have started cutting back. However, by March or so, they will fall into the same old habits.
Why do people have hard time making changes in their lives? I believe one of the biggest reasons is a lack of motivation. They have motivation, but it is an inferior motivation, which only works for a short time. The key to living right is to find the strongest motivating factor.
There is no doubt in my mind that love is the ultimate motivator. If you love someone, you will go out of your way to spend the time and effort to do what they want you to do. Therefore, if we are motivated out of a love for the Lord Jesus, we will have the desire to do whatever His Word leads us to do. It will not be a burden, but a joy. In addition to this excellent motivation, all believers have the Holy Spirit to teach us and empower us, so if we allow Him to have His way in us, we are well on the way to success.
We have to decide not to love ourselves or our stuff. We have to put away the love of money and fame. What we need is to love Jesus and if we do, we will obey His Commands. He will lead us in how to be physically fit as well as financially sound. He will show us how to excel in relationships and in our work. He knows what we need to do, and if we love Him, we will be ready to do His will. It is the only way to live. Think about it.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Genesis 5-7.
