We're Home

Good-byes make me reflect on things. It would be nice to never have to say good-bye. That will happen one day, but not until we reach our final home. In the meantime we have to part from loved ones for one reason or another. I hope the main reason we have to say good-bye is because of God's will. Let me explain.

It is a sad thing to say good-bye when we are running from God or we have missed His will because we are trying to do things our own way. There is a great example of that in the Bible. We call it the parable of the Prodigal Son. He left his family to waste his life and his inheritance. Now that is so sad. It adds pain on top of pain for the family that is left behind.

However, when the Lord separates us, there is a measure of joy even in the parting, because we know we are both on the right track. Remember my saying, "The best place to be in the whole world is in the center of God's will." When we know that is the case for our family and for us, we have the joy of the Lord at the same time as the sorrow of being apart.

It leads us home. For every Christian home should be where the Father tells us to be. Now, we are at home here on this earth. One day, maybe soon, we will be at home in Heaven, because the Father will say it is time for Jesus to come and get us. Then, we will all be at home with Him in Heaven. What a joy! However, now we need to be working, as He directs, where He directs, and as long as He directs, and it is all for His glory.

Tomorrow, I intend to read I Kings 6-8.
