Love in Action - Part 2

I am so happy to report that we saw some results of the hot dog give away yesterday. We had at least one man in worship this morning because of the effort of Jas Ingram's Connection Group showing God's love in action. We also heard many testimonies about the positive comments that were made by the people who came by the church. One man could not believe that they were really giving away free hot dogs with no strings attached. One lady drove off with a car full of kids because she was unable to even accept that there was no catch to it. Isn't that amazing? People can't grasp the reality that someone would do something for them for free and with no hidden agenda.

Maybe that is one reason why people have trouble receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior by grace through faith. Perhaps, they do not believe that He would give Himself freely for them to forgive their sins. All we have to do is love Him and trust Him to receive His free gift. That is nothing compared to what He paid for us. It is truly the "great exchange," His righteousness for our sins.

Even if folks have a hard time with it, I think we need to keep showing that love in action and watch to see what God can do through us. I want to challenge each of us and each Connection Group to think of unique ways to show this kind of love. It could be contagious, if we will be excited about it like the folks were yesterday.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 3-4 and Hebrews 11:20-40.
