Coming to the Conclusion
It was with a great sense of accomplishment that our Monday morning Men's Bible Study group reached the conclusion of the Gospel of John today. We had a group of 14 men this morning, most of whom were with us when we began the study under the leadership of Army Chaplin Kevin Forrester two years and three months ago in September of 2006. To say the least it was an in-depth study, and it was so rich in meaningful discussion by the men. Even though Kevin was transferred to Fort Rucker in the middle of the study, and I took the lead in the teaching, it was the Lord who was teaching these men His holy Word. It was a great blessing for all of us, especially me.
God knew just how to end this Good News of John. It ended back where Jesus had called His disciples in Galilee. It ended with Peter and John on center stage. It ended with Jesus reclaiming Peter, His rock. The conclusion brought all of us hope, because we all can know that Jesus will not give up on us, and He can use all of us, no matter how strong willed or stubborn we might be. That is a great conclusion. It also concluded with a statement about how much more Jesus did that was not recorded in John or any other books. It reminds us that we can never know too much about our Lord Jesus. He is our Living Lord! Therefore, our next study will begin on January 5, 2009. We will begin an in-depth study of the Gospel of Luke and the book of Acts, and we will incorporate the truths from the book, Twelve Ordinary Men, as we study through these two books by the beloved physician. It will be open to all men, and I want to urge you to get in on the fellowship and excitement we have at these early morning gatherings. Feel free to bring your friends and acquaintances. God has great things in store for us and for our church.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Amos 4-6 and Revelation 7.
