One Little Girl
We are having Vacation Bible School this week. It is always a rewarding time to love the children and to tell them the Good News of Jesus Christ. Every year I am reminded why it is so important. Today, I was reminded by the story of one little girl in my wife's class. After the group of second graders watched a video that showed a person being baptized, this 7 year old girl asked, "What is baptism?" Chris was able to explain it to all of the class and to share the gospel at the same time. They asked a lot of amazing questions, which is usually the case.
This little girl said that she did not go to church. She was brought to VBS by a friend. She was able to hear the greatest story of all times. God touched her heart. How do we know? After the class ended, she had the boldness to approach Chris and ask her about being baptized. She did not mean just to get immersed under some water. She meant that she wanted to follow Christ and then, be baptized. That is what VBS is all about. There are so many little girls and little boys, whose parents would never take them to church, but they can come for VBS, even if it is just for free baby sitting. Then, they hear about the free gift of salvation through Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection. That makes all of the effort so worthwhile.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Nehemiah 10-11 and Acts 4:1-22.
