The Lord's Harvest - Nahum and Revelation 14

The harvest is the culmination of a lot of time and effort put into the crops. It is when the farmer sees the outcome of his labor. The fruit is gathered into the barns, and the waste is thrown out or burned. One day God will harvest this world. That is what we read about in Revelation 14. Those who know Him and have born spiritual fruit will be taken to heaven. Those who have rejected His revelation of Himself to them will be thrown into outer darkness and burned. It is a sobering thought to think about the harvest. What will God find in our lives when He harvests us? Will we have much fruit or no fruit?

Nahum is about the destruction of Nineveh. It is a prophecy that God gave Nahum before the fall of this great city and country to the Babylonians. I am quite sure that Nineveh thought they we invincible. They did not think about the end coming and facing God. They were too busy enjoying their worldly pleasures. Then, suddenly the end came, and they were not able to prepare. In a moment they were out of this world and into eternity. This is true of the majority of the people in the world today, too. They are too caught up in the things of this world to consider the reality of the harvest. Please, don't let yourself or those around you be caught lacking when the harvest time comes. Knowing Christ is the key. Without Him there is no salvation, and there is no fruit.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Habakkuk and Revelation 15.
