God's Great Faithfulness - Lamentations 3-5 and Hebrews 10:19-39

Jeremiah's heart was broken by all of the things he had to witness as God punished His people. He was personally attacked both verbally and physically by people who rejected the Word of God that he proclaimed. He was put in prison and in the pit of miry clay. We can understand how Jeremiah could have been discouraged and wanted to give up. He did not give up, though. He had discovered something very important. It is a truth we all need to know. The mercies of God are new every morning. He will watch over us, no matter how bad things get around us. God is always faithful. He is our portion and our hope. Once a person learns that, there is nothing that can defeat him. Each morning we wake up to a new day of hope in the Lord and confidence that He is on the throne. Have you come to know God in that way?

Evidently, Hebrews was written to the Jewish believers, and some of them were weak in the faith, and they were considering going back to Judaism. In other words, they were going to give up on the Lord Jesus. It is obvious to me that anyone who would consider giving up has not realized the faithfulness of God. It could be they were never saved in the first place. It could be that they have not grown as they should have. However, the worst thing a person can do is to give up on God. That is why the writer of Hebrews exhorts us not to quit assembling with other believers and to hold fast our confession. Anyone who turns away from God faces His grave displeasure. Don't let Satan fool you. God is faithful. There is nothing He can't do, if you will trust Him and not yourself. Look to His mercies and hope in Him. Don't look at your problems. If you will seek the Lord, you will find Him faithful, and you will see His new mercies every morning.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 1-2 and Hebrews 11:1-19.
