My Help Comes From The Lord - Psalms 120-122 and I Corinthians 9

Can you say with the psalmist, "My help comes from the Lord?" When people lie about you and slander you, do you ask the Lord to deliver you, or do you try to correct the situation yourself? Do you get your security from the Lord or some other source? Do you go to worship the Lord gladly and to thank Him for His blessing sincerely? The only way we can say yes to these questions is if we realize our help comes from the Lord, and we depend on Him daily to meet our needs. That is what He wants us to do.

Paul is a good example of a person who realized this. In I Corinthians 9 he has to confront some challenges he has received from the believers in Corinth. They did not want to pay him while he was ministering to them, even though the other Christian leaders did receive support. Paul did not complain about this, because he knew that God had called him, and God would provide for him. He just wanted the people in the church to realize the truth. He, also, wanted them to know that God had given him the ability to be all things to all kinds of people so he could see as many saved as possible. He was not taking the credit for this at all. He was saying that God had called him to that kind of ministry, and God was the one who empowered him. What Paul was doing , and what we should do is to discipline ourselves to trust the Lord and to follow Him. Then, we will not end up ruining our testimony and losing His favor. He is our help, but we have to keep our focus on Him. It is marvelous how God can use the person who can say, "My help comes from the Lord."

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 123-125 and I Corinthians 10:1-18.
