Every Believer has a Place of Service - Numbers 3-4 and Mark 3:20-35

A big part of God´s order in the Old Testament was to set aside the tribe of Levi to be His special servants. They were the priests and the ones to take care of everything associated with the House of God. This was a great responsibility and a great privilege. As we read Numbers 3 and 4, we understand that God had a place of service for each one. The jobs were not interchangeable, but they all had to work together in unity. That is always the beauty of God´s way. He loves harmony in service. Take a few minutes to imagine all of the work it would have been to set up and take down the Tabernacle in the wilderness. Think about all of the details of the sacrifices. It was a lot of work, but if each one did his job, it went well.

Now, notice Mark 3. Jesus speaks of a house being divided. He says that a divided house is not able to stand. Jesus was showing the effects of strife and a lack of unity on any group of people. He applied this truth even to Satan and His demons. This has great implications for us in the church. Today, all believers are priests before the Lord. We all have a special place of service. We must serve in unity and harmony for everything to be done well. If we fight against each other, or if we do not cooperate, God´s work will not be done. That is a tragedy for those who serve the God of love. I pray that we will all realize what God wants us to do and work together for His Kingdom.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Numbers 5-6 and Mark 4:1-20.
