April 12 - I Chronicles 26-29
Today, we read more about the organization of David and his preparations for the Temple. These details are important, but the most important thing is to see the source of the details. David said that these things were revealed to him by the Spirit, and he was faithful to write them down. These plans were not from David's mind, but from the Spirit of God. David was passing on to Solomon and to us God's plan for the Temple. In Hebrews we read about the earthly Temple being a copy of the Temple in heaven, so the only way for David to know how to build it was for him to receive the plans from God. I hope we will not take this lightly. It is God's desire to communicate with His children. When we hear from Him we should listen, and even write it down, because it is important to us. When we have a big project before us, we should expect God to speak through His leaders. This is how God works in this world.
When David had made all of the official provisions for the Temple, he gave his personal treasures, too, and he invited the people to give from a willing heart. The great thing is that all of them gave with joy. God loves a joyful giver. If we give out of obligation, God sees that, and we do not receive the same blessings as when we give from a willing, happy heart. I encourage you to give in this blessed manner.
Also, in David's song of praise he showed that he knew all of his money came from God, so all he was doing was giving His money back to Him. That makes giving much easier for us. We must know that all of our money comes from God. It is His money. If He wants some of it back, we should have no reason not to give it to Him. In fact, if we don't, we should know He can take it from us at any time. After all, it is His.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Chronicles 1-4.
